When someone slides into your DMs and says “Hey, you should really check this amplifier out!” and then immediately follows that up by offering to ship one out the next day, you don’t just say “sure” or “yeah”, you yell “Hell Yeah!, Bring it!” Well, the kind folks at Orange Amplification just up the street thought that their latest variant in the Crush series would be perfect in the ARR amp lineup to suit the wide variety of styles and tones our players demand….and who are we to argue? Aptly named the Super Crush, this 100-watt, 2-channel solid state amp is all about versatility and flexibility, and you would never know this beast lacked a pair of EL34s until you questioned why they have never needed to be replaced. The Dirty channel offers four stages of gain, providing a spectrum of tones from a hint of grit to full-on overdrive, while the Clean channel delivers shimmering cleans with plenty of headroom, allowing for everything from vintage bluesy crunch to high-headroom clean tones. Separate controls for each channel allow you to sculpt your tones to the most granular level.
Never thought you’d go back to a solid state head? Well that’s what Ty Tabor swore to until he tested out the Super Crush, which is now a mainstay on his touring rig. The YouTube video below has a comprehensive side-by-side comparison between Orange’s most versatile tube amp, the RV MK III, and the Super Crush and you’ll see and hear why the latter has been dubbed the “Valve-less Rockerverb”! 🙂
Don’t have time for the video? Check out the Super Crush tunes below for a quick demonstration of some different tones. Better yet, book some time and come try this bad ass out and tell us what you think!
A big THANK YOU to Orange Amplification for the continued support!
